There's no easy way to scan disc negatives. We use special trays to hold them steady , and scan each frame one-at-a-time. 35mm film is the most common format, so while we've streamlined our scanning process for that breed to save you money, any non-standard film interrupts our workflow and takes more time to get the best scans possible.

We use super high resolution scanners, which allows us to take advantage of the available pixels in these tiny frames. Slide formats vary widely, and not all slides fit the standard 35mm mount size. Many consumer services only digitize standard slides to avoid adjusting equipment, prioritizing speed and efficiency over flexibility. At EverPresent, we digitize all slide formats, including non-standard mounts, ensuring your entire collection can be preserved instead of just the easy-to-process items.

35mm slides require precise handling and specialized equipment to capture their full detail and color. Many consumer services rely on bulk or flatbed scanners that can produce softer images and struggle with color accuracy—especially with aging slides that have faded over time. At EverPresent, we scan slides individually using high-resolution, professional-grade equipment, preserving sharp detail and capturing the full tonal range of each image.

We also offer optional color restoration and AIimage enhancements to correct fading, exposure issues, and color shifts that naturally occur with slide film. Beyond scanning, we organize your images into a structured, chronological digital library, making it easy to revisit, search, and share decades of memories.

Frequently Asked Questions about Scanning Disc Film

There’s no easy way to scan disc negatives. We use special trays to hold them steady, and scan each frame one-at-a-time. 35mm film is the most common format, so while we’ve streamlined our scanning process for that breed to save you money, any non-standard film interrupts our workflow and takes more time to get the best scans possible.

Sadly, it doesn’t work. Viewmaster uses two photos to get a 3D effect, but disc film photos are only 2D. Disc film is also color negative, so the colors in each image will look backwards when viewed as-is. You’ll need these scanned to properly view whatever was photographed.

Disc negatives were discontinued in 1997, so the film itself is at least 20-something years old. The photos stored on that film could be younger depending on when they were shot. Kodak phased out disc film cameras in the late ’80s, though, so it’s unlikely that most of these cameras have outlived the film.
