Let Us Enhance the Visual Quality of Your Slides

Unique to EverPresent, our Image Enhancement (IE) and Advanced Image Retouching (AIR) services are designed to restore clarity, correct aging, and repair damage that traditional scanning alone cannot fix. Our photo team combines professional editing software, AI-assisted photo restoration tools, and human retouching to help preserve your memories.

  • Color correction and fading repair
  • Exposure and contrast balancing
  • Dust and blemish removal
  • Scratch and crease repair
  • Mold and water damage restoration
  • Repairing torn or partially missing sections
  • White balancing and red-eye correction

Across all analog formats we use artificial intelligence as a support tool, not a substitute for human expertise. AI assists with stabilization, cleanup, and consistency, allowing our specialists to focus on judgment, quality control, and preservation decisions.

We don’t apply the same approach to every format, and we don’t automate simply for speed. Slides demand different care than VHS tapes; audio requires different judgment than film. Each project is reviewed by people who understand the material, the era it came from, and the responsibility that comes with preserving it.

Every order reflects the same philosophy: thoughtful technology, human oversight, and respect for the original.

We Can Convert Any Slides to Digital

Slide formats vary widely, and not all slides fit the standard 35mm mount size. Many consumer services only digitize standard slides to avoid adjusting equipment, prioritizing speed and efficiency over flexibility. At EverPresent, we digitize all slide formats, including non-standard mounts, ensuring your entire collection can be preserved instead of just the easy-to-process items.

35mm slides require precise handling and specialized equipment to capture their full detail and color. Many consumer services rely on bulk or flatbed scanners that can produce softer images and struggle with color accuracy—especially with aging slides that have faded over time. At EverPresent, we scan slides individually using high-resolution, professional-grade equipment, preserving sharp detail and capturing the full tonal range of each image.

We also offer optional color restoration and AI image enhancements to correct fading, exposure issues, and color shifts that naturally occur with slide film. Beyond scanning, we organize your images into a structured, chronological digital library, making it easy to revisit, search, and share decades of memories.

We know that finding the right service for your needs can be tricky. That’s why our team will walk you through the technical options in advance before you commit to anything. It’s free to get your materials to us for an estimate and there’s no upfront payment.

We don’t promote flashy discounts or expiring coupons. We offer volume discounts because it’s fair, and we apply them automatically.

We offer the widest range of options and capabilities to ensure your project gets what it needs, but out of respect for your budget, never more than it needs. In our business, one size rarely fits all (or fits in a box).

A $50 service fee applies to all orders. This service fee provides for safe handling procedures including: intake, item coding, physical & digital storage, quality checks by senior technicians and packaging.

frequently asked questions

You may find a specialty lab that still produces 35mm slide film, and Kodak brought Ektachrome back into production not too long ago. But slides haven’t been a mainstream format since the early 2000s.

Because your slide film is slowly but surely deteriorating whether you look at it or not. Colors can shift, mold is a risk, and the dyes making up the image may permanently fade. Digital copies freeze the image at its current quality – and some services can even enhance its quality.

We clean the slides before scanning them at high resolution. Then, we optimize the digital file for color accuracy and exposure. We can also caption any handwritten notes on the cardboard mounts in the filenames. There are specialized enhancements like scratch repair, fading correction, and dust removal, too.

You need to get a dedicated slide scanner or a flatbed with a transparency adapter. You’ll load slides one at a time, manually adjust color and exposure for each frame, and then export as TIFF or JPEG. It can take an entire weekend at your desk if you have 20+ slides. Just imagine how long it would take to convert 35mm slides to digital if you had hundreds or thousands!

A professional conversion service is worth every penny. Your slides get cleaned, scanned at the highest possible resolution, and color-corrected for unparalleled quality. Consumer equipment and DIY processes leave a lot to be desired as far as the end result is concerned.

It depends on the size of your collection and which specific services you add. We do offer volume discounts for bigger projects, though. Your first 300 scans are $0.98, and then we automatically apply a 30% bulk discount for additional slides (just $0.68/slide). We encourage you to reach out for a free quote today.

Like pricing, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. It depends on how many slides you need converted and whether you add enhancement or retouching services. Our current workload will play a part in how fast we can get the job done, too. We do complete 80% of our projects within a month, though.

You get your original slides after the project is complete, along with the high-resolution digital file delivered in the EverPresent app (which you have free access to for 60 days). You can download the file from the app. Or, keep storing it with us for safekeeping and easy access/sharing. You can also get your slides delivered as USB or DVD if you want.

You can drop off your slides at one of our 130+ locations on the East Coast, or schedule free home pickup if we offer it in your area. Otherwise, we’ll send you a pre-paid label for you to ship your slides to our facility to get the process started. Reach out for a free one-on-one consultation.

100% yes. Almost all slide containers label each of the slots in numerical sequence. We start at 1 and go in order to the last slide. Even if you don’t think your carousels are in any kind of order, you never know who may have spent an hour or two sorting them once-upon-a-time.

We scan almost 100,000 images every week, and if we sent clients disorganized archives, we’d be exchanging one problem for another. When we transfer slides to digital, including when we transfer slides to DVD, we keep them organized. That starts, critically, with not asking you to remove your slides from their current housing. If you have slides in small boxes, carousels, binders or something else, we take them as is so that we can keep them in order. That’s the foundation of organization, with other options including:

Advanced Organizing: Our slide scanning service offers various advanced organizing options for your scanned slides, including highlighting, date-tagging, topic-tagging, geo-tagging, and face-tagging. These services are designed to make it easy to find photos you want in larger scanned archives. This is generally appropriate for archives of 3,000 or more images, and your consultant at EverPresent will make recommendations. You need not be prepared for this upfront.

Folders: All groupings that we receive get their own folders, whether it’s a carousel or a binder, or groups that you put together manually. We scan every slide in order, and then number the slide scans sequentially. So, for example, if you give us a slide box labeled “European Vacation 1975” there will be a folder titled similarly and each scan will be labeled “European Vacation 1975_01”…” European Vacation 1975_2”, etc. making it easy for you to know exactly where your media files are located.

Handwriting and Notes: If someone took the time to write notes on your slides, we are happy to preserve that work in digital format. We have the ability to manually transcribe written notes into the caption metadata of your digital scans.

We have a very high bar for our slide scanners. 35mm and other slide formats have a significant inherent level of detail, and it is critical to have a strong imaging element to get the full sharpness and color depth. This requires multiple different types of equipment for the different sorts of slides we see.
Second, let’s talk about the nuances of the scanners and the situations we need to accommodate when we transfer slides to digital:

Flatbed Slide Scanners: Flatbed scanners are the go-to solution for most of the non-standard slide formats we receive. We have a series of custom mounts, some of which we maintain via 3D printing, to allow us to get the perfect distance from the scanner glass for less common slides. We are using high-end Epson scanners for this purpose where we can go to 4,000 DPI and beyond if necessary. If you send us glass mounted slides, 3D stereo slides or similar, we are likely using our flatbed scanners. When we transfer a slide to digital format, we will also use flatbed scanners for the most common format, 35mm scans, when the slide mounts are damaged, curled or when the film positives must be removed from the mounts to get a good scan. These scanners cost ~$4,000 a piece.

Overhead Scanners: Overhead scanners refer to a sophisticated camera element that images the slides from above. It is relatively uncommon for us to use this scanning rig for slides, but there are exceptions, most commonly oversized transparencies. We built this rig in-house using Nikon imagine elements and it costs ~$20,000.

Tray Scanners: A tray scanner lets you put a series of a few dozen slides into a tray, which are then auto-fed into a high-end imaging element. The best machines for purpose were the converters made by Nikon. Fortunately, we have a huge supply of these devices and know how to maintain them, relying on 3D printing and expert handling. These machines are best leveraged for scanning 35mm slides in standard cardboard mounts. One of our tray feeding slide stations costs ~$15,000.

“EverPresent got the job done ahead of time and under the budget. My original slides were over 50 years old and in most cases they look like they might have just been taken. Thank you EverPresent for a job well done!” ★★★★★
“I recently received my recently completed scans from my first order with Everpresent. I have a number of old slides I had tried to scan myself without the success I had hoped for. I compared my early scans with those done by Everpresent and was very happy to see that they were sharper and a bit brighter.” ★★★★★
