• Client had 40,000 photos on their phone, including a lot of clutter like memes, receipts, parking meters, and food photos. We were able to do the organizing entirely within iCloud. We spent 20 hours over 3 weeks going through it all and removed 7,000 clutter photos, which we hid so the client could review them before deleting them.
• Client had 15,000 photos in their iCloud library on their phone and computer with no organization. We removed duplicates, set everything up in chronological folders, made albums for trips and gatherings, and added face-tagging for their immediate family. It took 13 hours over the course of a month.
• Client was a photographer with 2 large external hard drives, 5 Apple iPhoto & Photo libraries, and 6 cloud accounts with photos and videos. It took 15 hours to gather photos from all the sources and export everything from the Photos libraries, and in the end we had 700,000 files to deduplicate. After 70 hours over the course of 4 months, we wound up with 150,000 deduplicated photos and videos organized chronologically.
• Client already had an organized archive, but was interested in getting some photo books made for her younger kids. We spent 4 hours over the course of a couple sessions on her computer setting up working albums for 15 photo books and training her on how to efficiently pick photos to print.

How much does your service cost?

$95/active hour, starting at 4 hours. Number of active hours depends on what services you’d like and how many files you have.

How long does a project take?

Turnaround times vary widely depending on the number of files we’re working with, what work we’re doing, and the foibles of technology. If you’re concerned about your project taking a long time, we recommend starting with your biggest pain points, whether that’s getting all the photos in your Photos Library set up in chronological albums & folders, setting up face-tagging for a photo book or slideshow you want to make, or deduplicating photos and videos you have on a hard drive.

Is there any special software you use that does the work for you?

No! We use deduplication software that helps to identify duplicates, but we personally go through all the results to remove any false positives and make sure the highest-resolution version of a photo is kept. We also use face- detection software to make face-tagging more efficient.

Will my organized archive be Mac or PC compatible?

Either, or both – your choice! We can tailor the return format of the drive to your home environment.

I have shoe boxes full of old photos. Can you organize them?

Not really! We only organize digital photos, so we can organize your photos after they’ve been scanned. There are lots of great folks in APPO who specialize in organizing physical photos.

Can you come help me in my home?

We find that remote screen-shares are usually more time and cost effective for you, since our rates are based on active hours spent and all time at your home is active. At the moment, we’re not doing housecalls, but we can do contactless porch pick-ups or drop-offs if you live in New England.

I have photos on my computer plus an iPad, phones, USB sticks, DVDs, hard drives – really just everywhere. Can you get all the photos in one place?

Yes! As long as the device works, we can transfer it.

I have a lot of older digital media – floppy disks, zip drives, etc. Can you transfer those?

We can transfer some older digital media types, but do not currently have the capability to transfer 5.25″ or larger floppy disks, Jaz drives, or Zip 750.

Do you delete my photos off my computer or can I see the finished product first?

We only copy photos and videos during consolidation, we do not delete anything. Space permitting, we will include a full copy of your original files on your return drive so that you can match up what we included in the archive when you get it back and delete what’s no longer needed. We also can move some files into a Transferred directory, although that isn’t always possible.

I don’t live in New England, can you still help me?

Yes! We work with clients throughout the country, as well as clients from other countries. We recommend working entirely via cloud services if you’re in another country to avoid mail delays.
