35mm slide scanning services

35mm slide scanning is one of our most popular services! If your carousels or boxes are organized by year, we’ll make you subfolders for those. If you have handwritten notes on every single slide, that’s no problem! Talk to us about captioning! No matter how you have them organized, we’ll maintain that digitally for you as we scan. If you haven’t been storing your slides in a climate-controlled part of your home, safe from too much natural sunlight or temperature fluctuations and you’ve been moving them from closet, to attic, to basement and back to the closet as you need the space – we are your best option for 35mm slide scanning. Our technicians clean and optimize every slide before and after digitizing.
Here’s a fun fact about your carousels of 35mm slides: all of your slides are reversal film, not negatives. You’ll notice that you can see a full color picture when you hold them to the light or put them on a lightbox. Slides are mounted individually for use in slide projectors. These were great for viewing with your family and most people offset the cost of this equipment by not making a lot of prints. The upside to this is an easy-to-use movie view of your family memories, but the downside was collecting closets full of slide carousels and trays because they are NOT compact. Here’s the best news – digitizing your 35mm slides and converting them to digital will not only stop the natural deterioration of the film and its color, but viewing them on your TV or computer can bring back some of those old-school memories of sitting around your home projector after dinner. People enjoyed this so much, we even see home movies of people taping their slide projections!
To put the deteriorating nature of your slides into perspective, the first film for slides was developed in 1936. That’s the same year King Edward VII abdicated the throne of England to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. They’ve been making movies about this for decades.

about 35mm slide scanning
Common questions about 35mm slide conversion
Will you keep my slide carousels in order?
100% yes. Almost all slide containers label each of the slots in numerical sequence. We start at 1 and go in order to the last slide. Even if you don’t think your carousels are in any kind of order, you never know who may have spent an hour or two sorting them once-upon-a-time.
How many 35mm slide scans fit on a DVD?
A lot! A data DVD can hold thousands of scanned images, but if you have more slides than fit on a DVD, we’ll upgrade you to whatever size USB you might need at zero cost.
Do I need a projector to view my 35mm slides?
It’s an option if you still have one, but definitely not your only one. Aside from a projector, you can use a lightbox to lay your slides out and they will be illuminated enough to sort them. If you don’t have a lightbox, or you don’t have a lot of slides to look at, you can also hold them up to any light source or download an app from your smart phone to turn it into a lightbox!

“I had such a terrific experience using EverPresent. I gathered all my parents photos and slides, and EverPresent thoughtfully and carefully digitized and organized all images faster and more logically than anyone in my family could have hoped to do individually. This was the best decision to outsource a task we’ve ever made.”
