We rip DVDs, MiniDVDs and CDs and transfer to high quality digital files
If you’re looking to convert to DVD, not from a DVD, visit our video transfer service page! You can also check out our blog post about converting a DVD to an mp4 file yourself. We give you step-by-step instructions on how to do it with Handbrake.
At EverPresent we offer to share your digitized photos, slides and negatives on DVDs as well as USBs, but we still have clients that come to us looking to transfer everything OFF their DVDs from a previous service, or they prefer the digital files that they cannot access. Through a process often called “ripping” we can pull information when we convert DVDs, miniDVDs, and CDs and provide it back to you USBs or downloadable digital files. While some DVDs offer the ability to erase and rewrite information like photos and videos, some types of DVDs do not allow you to do this. Common examples of this are copyrighted music files and computer programs.
DVDs are still great for storing photos, music, videos, computer programs and just about anything else that will fit, sometimes even up to 10,000 images. While USB’s have been around since 1996 and continue to become the dominant storage medium in this digital world, DVDs remain a great way to share photos and movies and the primary distribution form for the music industry. DVDs erased the need for floppy disks because of their high storage capacity and low price tag. While CDs had been around for awhile ‘DVDs’ were really the cure-all that people had been looking for. CD’s are great for music and some photos but they only hold 1/5th as much as DVDs.
MiniDVDs are about half the size of regular sized DVDs and are most commonly used for music singles or albums. We mostly work with miniDVDs that have been finalized, but occasionally a converting a miniDVD to digital project requires us to complete the finalization.
A unique feature of the DVD is being able to put a customized message and photo on the front. This makes it easy to organize and find and also makes for great customized gifts.
